Director's Statement



When my childhood best friend, Nate Franson, sent me the script for "Latte", I knew it was a green light the minute I finished the last page. What resonated immediately was how the script captures the exaggerated and sometimes horrible thoughts that come with trying to navigate online dating in a modern world.


I knew the project would be self funded so we would need to pull off the filming in a single day. This was only possible by calling on my creative network to lend their time and talents and I was so lucky to have such an amazing crew. To make the 10 minute film a reality, I decided on longer tracking takes to save on setup time. This required two solid rolling rehearsals to make sure Nate and Colleen would be ready for shoot day.


When casting, we really only had one actress in mind for the leading lady, and when Colleen said yes, that was the moment we knew we were actually going to make a film. Filming this project in the neighborhood I grew up in was such a surreal, full-circle experience. I truly hope we make the Boulder film community proud.
